About

Folk Controls is a one-person controls shop run by Justin Folk — a controls engineer who designs, builds, programs, and commissions every panel that goes out the door. When you hire Folk Controls, you're not handed off to a junior tech or a subcontractor. You work directly with the person doing the work, start to finish.

Background

I've spent my career as a hands-on electrical controls engineer, building panels and writing the logic that runs them. I've completed multiple full machine refurbishments end to end — stripping aging equipment down and bringing it back up on modern, supportable controls — with a specialization in packaging, converting, and bag manufacturing machinery.

Approach

My work is built on a simple standard: a panel should be clean, documented, and serviceable years after I've left the site. I work primarily in the AutomationDirect ecosystem — Productivity PLCs, BRX PLCs, Click PLCs, C-more HMIs, GS-series VFDs, and LS servo drives — and I design in AutoCAD Electrical so every drawing matches the wire in the field. No black boxes, no shortcuts that cost you later.

Whether you're building a new machine, retrofitting a line, or trying to get an old one running again, I'd like to hear about it.
